Freedman’s book of photos, A Time That Was, attempts to capture an Ireland in the process of becoming what she describes as “a time that was, places that were, that will never be again.” The black and white photos are crisp and richly textured, lending their subjects a romantic quality and slight mournfulness. Short vignettes by Freedman describing her subjects accompany several images.
