German-born photographer, art collector and aesthete Herbert List had a special affinity with Italy, and over a period of some forty years he visited the country time and time again. The impressions he recorded during his travels are a mosaic of past and present, art and life – a strange and haunting mixture of people, places and staged compositions in a style unmistakably his own.
