In June 1958, in Provence, Robert Doisneau accompanied shepherds on the transhumance paths, between Lorgue and the heights of Valberg. In October, he joined them to experience the descent of the herds. Robert Doisneau recounted this journey in a notebook, now rediscovered, published in its entirety in this album. Robert Doisneau's unpublished notebook is preceded by a few free words about his love of Provence, born from a long-standing admiration for Giono's books. Where we will see that, in the factories of Billancourt, the Doisneau of the city readily dreamed of becoming the Doisneau of the countryside!
