First edition, published for the occasion of the major retrospective of the same year (1971) that took place at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, City Art Museum of St. Louis, Boston Museum of Fine Arts, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and M. H. DeYoung Memorial Museum of San Francisco.
Large format hardback in very good condition. Shelf wear to the edges of the cover board and spine. Age-toning to the cover and extremities of the pages, with some foxing to the upper page block. Previous owner inscription on the inside of the cover. Includes an exhibition catalogue from the retrospectives run at the National Portrait Gallery, London, in 1976, and a corresponding newspaper clipping about sed exhibition from the same year.
